Hairspray audition opportunity!

RARE Productions is giving young people in Winchester an exciting opportunity to take part in a professionally-led musical production of Hairspray.

If you’re aged 8-21 year’s old, RARE Productions is inviting you to audition for the classic 1960’s musical, to be performed at Theatre Royal Winchester Thu 4 – Sat 6 August 2022.

Hairspray, winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical piled bouffant high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs set in Baltimore, 1962.

You must attend ONE of the following auditions:

Auditions 1
Date: Sat 21 May 2022
Venue: Theatre Royal Winchester
11.30am – 1.00pm (8-12 years old)
1.00pm – 2.30pm (13-21 years old)

Auditions 2
Date: Tue 24 May 2022
Venue: The Arc, Winchester
5.00pm – 6.00pm (8-12 years old)
6.00pm – 7.00pm (13-21 years old)

About the auditions:

• The auditions are FREE (fees apply if offered a role – see link below)
• Auditions are fun and provide a great way to gain confidence and communication skills
• You do not need to book a time slot – just arrive anytime during the audition
• You do not need to prepare anything
• The audition takes between 20-30 minutes and you will be taught a short excerpt from a song, a short movement routine and will be asked to read from a script
• You do need to wear comfortable clothing
