Brendoncare Otterbourne get creative!

On Tuesday 5 April, Playmakers ran a creative carnival workshop at Brendoncare Otterbourne.

Hat Fair Outdoor Arts festival returns Fri 1 July with a burst of riotous colour and costumes as hundreds of children from local schools parade along Winchester’s High Street in our Hat Fair Carnival. Alongside our school participation, local individuals and community groups are paired with a school to collaborate and share ideas and creations.

Partnered with Federation of Fryern Infant and Junior Schools in Chandlers Ford, Brendoncare Otterbourne took designs from the students and developed them.

Led by Hannah Jones, Play to the Crowd’s Engagement Producer, the community group had the opportunity to create beautiful carnival headdresses.

Participants included married couple Peter and Betty Fuller, who both said the workshop was “fantastic and therapeutic” and “great fun, and a great way to meet new people”.

Former Major of Eastleigh, Wayne Irish, a volunteer at the community group, said it was “a very friendly workshop”.

The residents of Brendoncare Otterbourne hope to participate in the Hat Fair Carnival, which officially opens the Hat Fair festival weekend, Fri 1-Sun 3 July 2022.

“It was great to kick start our carnival with the participants from Brendoncare Otterbourne. We’re looking forward to showcasing their creative talents at the Hat Fair Carnival in July.”
