Opportunity Alert: Calling all community groups in Winchester
Become part of Hat Fair Carnival 2024.
Hat Fair, Winchester's Outdoor Arts festival, returns in summer 2024 and the Carnival will take place in Winchester City Centre on Friday 5 July at 1pm.
This time the Carnival will be celebrating Hat Fair's 50th Anniversary with our theme Look Back, Look Forwards, Look Up!
We will be 'looking back' at past Hat Fair artists, 'looking up’ at acrobats and aerial acts, and 'looking forwards' to sustainable costumes, robotics and imagination.
We have an amazing opportunity for a limited number of community groups to take part.
Training, development & taking part:
This year we are offering practitioners expert training from The New Carnival Company in the following areas:
- Basic Costume Making Skills - Thu 1 Feb 2024 10am-5pm - In person (Theatre Royal Winchester)
- Backpacks and Additional Costume Making Workshop - Thu 22 Feb 2024 10am-5pm - In person (Venue TBC)
- Prototyping Your Carnival Costume - Thu 21 or Fri 22 March 2024. - 3 hour session - In person (Theatre Royal Winchester)
Community leaders will also receive support throughout the process from Playmakers.
