Playmakers
Backstage at Theatre Royal Winchester
Join us at Colden Common Community Centre for a fascinating talk on the history of Theatre Royal Winchester. It is also an opportunity to find out more about Play to the Crowd - the charity that runs the theatre as well as the Outdoor Arts festival Hat Fair and Playmakers - a year round programme of community projects and events.
You'll learn of the theatre building's history, once a hotel, then a cinema, as well as the stories behind the infamous ghosts. The talk will lead you around the theatre, from the stage, to the 400 seat auditorium and dressing rooms, to climbing the fly tower where the lighting and scenery are hung. The evening will give a new perspective of the theatre, rarely seen by theatre-goers.
The event will also give you an insight to the charity's Community Associates Programme and find out how you can get involved, as well as a insight to this year's Hat Fair Outdoor Arts Festival and how you can support the charity.
